Old Shoes
03:32
|
|
||
Its a tale of old shoes
And soles of your feet
I've got blisters from running
On beaches and streets
I've been knocked down and out
I've got eyes black and blue
I'm hit in the face when I'm talking to you
Oh, don't lie down
As soon as I sleep, you'll be leaving this town
Oh, don't lie down
'Cause I'm lost
And I'm young
Got my mind in the clouds
And if I fall asleep
You'll be leaving this town
It's a tale of tied hands
And holiday scenes
I've got romance in places that I've never been
But I've said a hundred times
That I'm all that you need
But you swear you're just stubborn and I'm just naïve
Oh, don't lie down
As soon as I sleep you'll be leaving this town
And oh, don't lie down
'Cause I'm lost
And I'm young
Got my mind in the clouds
And if I fall asleep
You'll be leaving this town
Its a tale of old shoes
And soles of your feet
I've got blisters from running
On beaches and streets
In the absense of sound
Will you sing back to me?
Or just whisper the thoughts, and tell me to dream?
Just don't lie down
As soon as I sleep you'll be leaving this town
And oh, don't lie down
'Cause I'm lost
And I'm young
Got my mind in the clouds
And if I fall asleep
You'll be leaving this town

All of the stars are singing notes I've never heard
Let them ring, because in time we'll play the chords that I prefer
Let 'em to dance like young birds
Give me more time, I will replace these things
With diamonds or pearls, that shine and sing, like wedding rings
Will i have the time to say goodbye?
I am the darkness in the sky
The sweeping wind that haunts the night
The burning fire from deep inside
Will come undone
Just give me another time to fight
Another chance to say goodbye
I wasn't prepared to let the lie
Come undone, come undone
Another painful day, my hands are red and torn
From crawling across the floor my knees are cracked and worn
I sat outside 'til the morning broke the sky
Singing painful melodies in the storm
'Cause I am the darkness in the sky
The sweeping wind that haunts the night
The burning fire from deep inside
Will come undone, come undone
And give me another time to fight
Another chance to say goodbye
I wasnt prepared to let the lie
Come undone, come undone
'Cause I am the darkness in the sky
The sweeping wind that haunts the night
The burning fire from deep inside
Will come undone, come undone
And give me another time to fight
Another chance to say goodbye
I wasnt prepared to let the lie
Come undone, come undone
All of the stars are singing notes I've never heard
The swallow and finch will leave the nest and emerge
Just let them dance like young birds

If I Was A Lonely Man
04:11
|
|
||
If I'm a lonely man, would I give the wrong insight;
That I'm struggling within my life?
If I'm a begging man, would you hold you hands back?
You're afraid that you have what I lack
And I need it back again
Don't cry
I have been watching you since
The day that I've gone
And I know that
Everyone's waiting until
I'm left on my own
Again
A man will walk up to you and ask if you will need a hand
Don't push it back, just tell him that you will need more to stand
I know this is cowardice, but I'm proud of it I'm sure
If this is heaven, then I will need a hell lot more
A hell lot more of it
So don't cry
'Cause I have been watching you since
The day that I've gone
Everyone's waiting until
I'm left on my own
A man will walk up to you and ask if you will need a hand
Don't push it back, just tell him that you will need more to stand
I know this is cowardice, but I'm proud of it I'm sure
If this is heaven, then I will need a hell lot more
A hell lot more
So don't cry
'Cause I have been watching you since
The day that I've gone
Everyone's waiting until
I'm left on my own

There is a place I've been before
A withered beach behind the shore
Eroded rocks will fall no more
Because there is a place and I've been before
This is a town I've seen in dreams
Of rusted homes that pass by streams
And everyone will leave it seems
This is a town I've seen in dream
And I will walk
Right to the sky
To find the place that haunts the night
So when its cold
You know I might
Turn the stars and moon to light
There is a house with broken bricks
A place I grew with dust and stick
A battered shell no one could fix
There is a house of broken bricks
So this is the night it all began
A hopeless man left on the sand
Remember when i gave that man
The hope that one day he can
And he will walk
Right to the sky
To find a place that haunts the night
So when its cold
You know i might
Turn the stars and moon to light
A bitter heart,
A lonely drum
The kind of love that makes your heart go numb
And oh rainy days
You'll know that ill find those words you say
The warmth a marching band can play
Those symphony of better days
And when my falling heart wont break
You know ill find those words to say
There was a girl beneath the moon
My heart was hers far to soon
And something about her, well it didnt move
I know she'll stay beneath the moon
She was the girl I loved before
My hungered heart will last no more
I hope she always knew what I saw
She was the girl that I loved before

We Can Only Sleep
04:02
|
|
||
Sunlight leaks through an open window
Tries to wake me up
Tries to hold me down
'Cause I've failed at things too simple
It's had the best of me
It's left me on the ground.
So I'll just stay sleeping, until the evening howls.
So this storm will break the night,
Wakes me up to raging tides
Crashing down like heartless rocks
The ropes will pull me off
Just like a compass in the snow
Its needle struggles to and fro
'Cause if it's lost, it tries to keep
The courage lost beneath the sea
Woken up to northern lights
Hollowed shells and freezing nights
I'll bite my lip to keep the feeling in my face
This is just a simple fact
Of how I felt just holding flowers in the snow
All dying in the cold.
So I'll leave them by your side, every night.
So this storm will break the night,
Wakes me up to raging tides
Crashing down like heartless rocks
The ropes will lock to pull me off
Just like a compass in the snow
Its needle struggles to and fro
'Cause if it's lost, it tries to keep
The courage lost beneath the sea
I will walk away to hide inside a home,
Just leaving footprints, that follow like a storm
'Cause we have been lost
We have been lost
So this storm will break the night,
Wakes me up to raging tides
Crashing down like heartless rocks
The ropes will lock to pull me off
Just like a compass in the snow
Its needle struggles to and fro
'Cause if it's lost, it tries to keep
The courage lost beneath the sea
I am always lost
I am always lost.

Procession
04:07
|
|

You tied me to a chair
Sailed me out to sea
Left me sinking in the ocean
As the sharks circled me
Distant shadows 'neath my feet
Faded images a dreams
I woke up to a cooling sweat
The beads ran down my face
Painting pictures in the pillow
As I turned so many ways
I wonder if I'd stop
If I finally saw the face I know
Lust has got me falling
Uncontrollable diesease
My head is fully satisfied
My heart is never pleased
I'm fed up with the girls
Who just keep falling to their knees
'Cause envy is too curious
Its boldness always wins
Leaving murders in the corridors
And bodies in the bins
I'm not sure this jail
Will keep these feelings in.
I hear death is very distant
Its agony's despair
And the several homeless tissues
Can never really cure
The tears from the eyes
From my funeral procession
So I'm fighting with a wooden leg
A chair still floats beneath
Keeping hope inside its cradle
As it's swaying in the wind
Distant lullabies are heard
As my mother slowly sing me back to sleep
I'm sorry but pandora dear
You'll see what you have done
An example of self sacrifice
And I guess you finally won
If you close the box for good
You'll never get back, I'm gone
So she sits beside my chair tonight
Tries desperately to dream
That her hands can only stop
My sinking memory
I bet she never knew this box could ever stop to dream
I bet she never knew that it would kill me in my sleep
I bet she never knew that these are nightmares and they're finally hers to keep.
I hear death is very instant
When the bodies in despair
And my family will follow
As I'm lowered in the air
The tears from the eyes
of my funeral procession.

Mannequins

Yesterday I took the city with my friends
We were walking down the highest road that I'd ever been
With the sun applying tan across our faces
We were worn down to ground, but we'd seen so many places
And as the weather left to bring a new horizon
We saw buildings in the sky, we'd thought we never find them
Bodies leaving light behind us
We were the only ones left to find this
And we will go
Where nobody can find us
I'll leave you in the morning light
Holding lighters to the sky,
We'll escape into the night
And as the city soon approaches we'll get older
But none the wiser to the fact it's getting colder
And the lights begin to dim we'll go missing
Casting mannequins of people to descend within the city
So hold me like wind, it's the company I've missed
and thats the only thing.
And we will go
Where nobody can find us
I'll leave you in the morning light
Holding lighters to the sky,
We'll escape into the night
And we will go
Setting sail for city
'Cause we die for ourselves
But we'll die for the chance
To be left with the girl that made it worth living.
(ba ba da oh)
It falls into place,
Like a satellite falls from grace
The city falls back to me, won't you fall back to me?
Yesterday I took the city with my friends
We were walking down the highest road that I'd ever been
With the sun applying tan across our faces
We were worn down to ground, but we'd seen so many places.

Lighthouse

'I know, I know', as I dove in overboard.
'Don't fall, don't fall', with the rocks against my skull
All the waves came crashing down against the hull
And seeped in through the cracks of the corners of your boat,
I know
And all through cover,
The rain will sweep and swallow you alive
Without a trace, or a tear across the sky
And oh, my lover
Not the grace or the elegance can hide
But give you enough time to say goodbye
Save my soul, save my life.
'I know, I know', as I dove in overboard.
'Don't fall, don't fall', with the rocks against my skull
All the waves came crashing down against the hull
And seeped in through the cracks of the corners of your boat,
I know
And good God, good God
If you see me, hear me suffering tonight
Would you hold my hand or strike it down with light?
This ship won't hold
Or break against the bracken in the night
The ice beneath the freezing sea in sight
Save my soul, save my life
Save my soul, save my life.
'I know, I know', as I dove in overboard.
'Don't fall, don't fall', with the rocks against my skull
All the waves came crashing down against the hull
And seeped in through the cracks of the corners of your boat,
We heard them yell
'Save me, save me.'
'Save me, save me.'
'I know, I know', as I dove in overboard.
You screamed 'don't fall!'
But the rocks they crushed my skull
And the waves came crashing down against the hull
And seeped in through the cracks, of the corners of your boat
As the storm begins to lift, and we're sinking to the floor
The lighthouse sees a wreck upon the nearest shore
'Save me, save me.'
'Save me, save me.'
